Opening November 2! Christie Michelle Stewart & Nikolai Klein

November 2nd Opening at Ashland Painters Union

Opening on November 2nd,  2012, the Ashland Painters Union announces its November exhibition featuring selected works by APU Members, Nikolai Klein and Christie Michelle Stewart. A public reception will be held from 5PM to 8PM on Friday, November 2nd.

About the Artists:

Nikolai Klein recently moved to the Rogue Valley from the eastern seaboard where he studied and practiced the art of drawing for over thirty years. The examples on display are selected from the last decade and represent a range of styles and approaches to the naked human figure, ranging from subtle pencil sketches to more gestural ink work. The thread that holds these drawings together is that balance between description and emotion. Nick “Finds the physical marks that convey these things to be a culmination of a studied inquiry into what makes up the inscribed essence of a human being”.

Christie Michelle Stewart is a classically trained artist whose finely crafted paintings merge the natural beauty of life with the whimsical qualities of dream and narrative.  Her work has been seen in galleries in Chicago and most recently at the Greenhouse Gallery in San Antonio, TX. After studying for a short time at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, she moved with her husband to Chicago, IL to continue her studies with a few of her FAA instructors at the Ravenswood A’telier.  She feels fortunate to be apart of the Ashland Painters Union and has appreciated her lovely and quiet life here in Ashland, Oregon. Christie “strives toward finely crafted, thoughtful paintings exploring small moments in time”. Being classically trained she often uses her traditional sensibilities to create suggestions of narrative around these silent and still objects and characters.
